Hey y'all!
No, I don't talk like a Southerner in person, but I wish I did! This is my first post as a craft blogger. I have another blog with posts about my other job as an English as a Second Language teacher, helping students face the challenge of pronouncing American English correctly. It's accent4professionals.blogspot.com if you want to check it out. But this blog is a fun one!
It's all about creating mixed media art - which has become my passion recently!
So, I'm going to do a basic post this first time round, explaining what materials I used, and where I got them if I can remember. I'll try to give some tips as well, for those of you who make mixed media art, too!
Remember, I'm a relative beginner (besides years of making homemade cards), so be easy on me please :)
So, first I took an 8 x 10 canvas and covered it in white Gesso and let it dry. Then I used this stencil, probably bought at Michael's, along with some texture paste, to create a background.
Then, as you can see from the image below, I arranged shapes of wood chip pieces into a design that I liked (box of pieces bought at Walmart).
Once I liked how they came out, I glued them to the canvas. I used gloss gel medium. I moved some of the pieces around in the final product.
Then I used spray inks to create the vibrant colors.
Here is the final product. I added a label with the word "Fly".
PS - I may have covered some pieces with gesso before spraying, but I didn't like that effect as much.
